Eagle and Ram Line 30 round mags for the 10/22.

I've picked up a used 10/22 today and, to my surprise, it came with one of each plus the factory 10-rounder.

The Ram Lines I owned back in the early 90s worked well. I never had an Eagle mag that worked reliably.

Same here, I have had good luck with RamLine and have never had luck with Eagle mags.
Ruger BX-25 mags probably best bang for the buck (once things settle down)

My best luck with extended 10/22 mags has been with Butler Creek Steel Lips (NOT the Hot Lips). I haven't tried the Ruger one yet. Didn't have much luck with a Ram Line. The Eagle might be the same thing as a Condor I have, which is basically a piece of junk.

I've not heard good about either one. I got 4 BC 25 rounders and they suck big time. The Ruger 25 rounders are great.

From what I have noticed for the mag to function it needs to have the metal feed lip or it just don't like to work period.

Steel Lips or Hot Lips? I have about eight Steel Lips and they all run almost 100% (or as close to it as you can expect from ANY hi-cap .22LR mag in my experience). My one Hot Lips can usually be counted on to malf once or twice per filling.

My only experience with extended magazines is with Butler Creek Steel lips... both the 25 rounders and 10 rounders... both actually took a little breaking in.... but work well after that. both Eagle and Ramline have one thing in common... cheap and so I would not expect good results from them.

I bought a box full of Eagles just prior to the clinton ban. I have had great luck with all of them and still have a handful still in the packages for future use. My son bought an orange Eagle about a year ago. It has had no issues. Just to clarifiy---we use them quite a bit. Several times a year we will blow through 1000 rounds a day per guy. As long as these are inserted and fired without using them for a handle/pistol grip, they seem to function fine. I also have several jamlines and misc others that I usually use as trade bait or a bonus when selling a 10-22.

Ah. No surprise there. That's my experience with them, too. :wink:

Give their Steel Lips a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I liked them so much I ended up with eight or nine of them. :wink:

Thanks for sharing your info gentlemen. Thought I was gonna make it to the range today but it's poured down rain for 24 hours and it's outside shooting around here.

Here's a poor pic of the mid-1980's 10/22 I scored at the local store for $200.00. That's my BX-25 mag I stuck in it for the pic.

Yeah, you saw a lot of 10/22s set up like that in the '80s. I bought a similar one with a Fed Ord folding stock back then for $100 even. Still have the gun, which has given me tens of thousands of rounds of shooting pleasure, but in a more standard stock. Still have the Fed Ord stock, too, which is now worth two or three times what I paid for the whole gun back then. :shock: :shock: :shock:

Snake45, I settled on a dozen Ruger BX-25 and have not looked back.

Today was the third range trip with this gun and the two mags in question.

The Ram Line mag ended up in the burn barrel but the Eagle functions as well as the factory 10 and 25 round mags. I don't know if those Eagles are still being made but mine is a great little magazine.
