I was in my local gun shop today. My brother ordered a new Willy Clapp GP100 in SS, which I thought was the only way they came. On the computer screen was a second listing for a Blued one. None in stock, but listed as Allocated.

The WC GP100 is not a bad way to go for a carry piece. The price is about $120 over a standard 3" from my dealer. You get the desirable Old Style Compact Grips (Cost today around $65-$70 when you can find them) and they have very good looking inserts to boot. Next you get the Novak Sights, (about $70 uninstalled). Not a bad value at all. Just add springs, and a little internal polishing to finish it up.
CORRECTION The grips are not the compact ones. They are a fancier remake of the full size old model insert grips.

I may have to start saving up for a Blued one. My GP100 project got sidelined by a S&W 310 Night Guard at the last gun show.

What is it with Wiley Clapp, lately? I notice Colt has a Commander variation named for him as well.

I did a little more research.
Ruger Number: 1753
Lipset's Number: RUHGP-331-NVK
Description: GP100 WC GPII 357 REV 3HB B
Apparently not out quite yet.

On the Lipskey site the Finish is listed as Matte Blue.
The Front Sight is listed as a Novak Brass Bead.

The price is just a little higher than the Stainless Steel version.

This should be great news for all those who are looking for a Blued 3". I think this is the first run of 3 inch GP100's in Blued finish in a long time.

Change out the front sight for a Novak Tritium, and a set of Wolf Springs should have it about perfect for CCW.

I have no idea what the other TALO Willy Clapp guns have done to them, but it looks to me like they pretty much got it right on the 3" GP100.

I will have to start working on the Piggy Bank for a Blued one when the come out.

And an all-blue Colt SAA .44Spl in the odd 6½" length.

Say what ??

I just looked it up. There is a veritable Wiley Clapp fury going around these days, no?

Wiley consults with TALO on special projects. He has a lot of great ideas and concepts that we have been able to incorporate into different models. So far all of his efforts have been extremely well received and those models don't stay on the shelf very long at all.

Does anyone have a blued one yet?

I won a Hawkeye SS one off Gun Broker.

It will give me a great platform for most any .38 or .357 Magnum load

Also, has anyone installed a NOVAK 1911 tritium front sight on their Wiley Clapp .357?

Please post your 3 inch GP-100/L frame holsters as well.

I had a WC GP100 in the matte stainless finish, and just couldn't warm up to it. I liked the revolver, of course, but I didn't care for the finish (which didn't seem very durable and hard to clean) or the fiber optic front sight. So, I sold it. Yesterday, I bought a 3" GP100 in stainless, which I like much better.

I would like a blued GP100, but I don't really need two GP100s, so I guess I will content myself with the one I have.

Yes, you do need the blued one..don't resist fate.

What 3 inch holster are you using if I may ask?

I have notoriously low willpower when it comes to guns I don't "need."

I have an El Paso Saddlery basketweave holster that I bought for a S&W N frame 3" revolver, which it didn't fit, but did fit the WC GP100 almost exactly...it has a slight bit of slack between the thumb strap and the hammer, but it holds the revolver securely enough for carry...it's just not as tight as I would like it to be. I'm not going to use it anyway, though, because I won't carry this gun on-body. I'll use it primarily for HD in the house, or in the car when we travel. It's just too big and heavy for CCW, and Texas (unfortunately) doesn't have open carry. (Not sure I would carry it if we did, anyway...but it would be nice to have the option.) I have a pistol rug that I carry it in when I have it in the car.

Here's some pictures of the holster:

I'm going to sell the holster, I guess...it isn't serving me any purpose. If you are interested, let me know.

Nice holster..i bought a GALCO speed paddle in Black online today.

The Speed Paddle was great for my 3 inch Speed Six.

It was not a WC but I spotted a 3 inch blued GP100 at the gun show this weekend for 430 brand new. I almost bought it regardless the fact it was .38 special.

Yes, all of the blued 3 inchers are hard to find, esp. so in these trying times where even revolvers are being bought up quickly.

Wow! Impressed and amazed at the same time, though I do agree

I emailed NOVAK.

They tell me that they will be offering a Tritium front sight for the Wiley Clapp GP (or maybe GP100s in general)
later this year.
