tactical solutions barrel, guide rod

I had my heli coils put in my tactical solutions barrel from the factory. Just got it back and I had a note in there saying I need to shorten my guide rod and that my hunter MK III would run better and be easier to assembly if I did that. I called a couple of friends and they had no clue what that meant. Anyone know how to do that or suggestions? thanks
