I took out my old SRH that I bought in 1995 and put an old 2x Nikon scope on it. I'm shooting a max load of H110 and a Lee 300 grain gas checked bullet that is Hytec coated. I probably haven't shot this gun in 15 years. I stuck it in the back of the safe and forgot it. What a beast! It really soaks up the recoil like noting else. The 44s felt like 38 specials. I'm sure they will hit harder on the other end. It was really a joy to shoot. Now if only a bear would come into my bait. What a nice surprise I had today.

Love my super I was at the range last weekend getting it dialed in for deer season shooting 100 yards with it and it's just a plain old shootin gun. My loads were 21 grains 2400 under 240 grain xtp .

Hard to beat a Super for throwing fireballs and big hunks of lead!

I've been a 44-o-phile for about 25yrs, so naturally I bleed Ruger Red and eat H110 on my cereal in the morning. I've found if your revolver doesn't like a Hornady 240XTP over 23.5grns of H110, there's something wrong with the revolver. Also found if a 44mag with the 240 XTP can't kill it, then not much will. I shoot a lot more of the 300 XTP's these days, over 22.0grn H110 (over book), absolute violence in a 7.5" package, but the hefty SRH's make them surprisingly pleasant. I don't shoot the hogue rubber grips, Lett style or woods for me.

Mine's a first year 1987. It also sits in the safe for some long periods. Although I don't shoot it much anymore, when I do its still lots of fun.

I never really like the looks of the SRH. Thought they looked like a short barreled GP or SP with a round barrel sticking out of the end of it.
Then I bought one and love it. Wish it was a 9.5" 454 but 7.5 does just fine.
