i have a new to me super redhawk(1993 model year) i love the pistol with the exception of the stupid!!!!!!!! read owners manual warning on the side of the barrel. are there any options on removing this?? possibly barrel flutting, or filling in warning??. revolver is stainless steel. i do not want the cost of replacing the barrel. what can be done??? thanks

It's YOUR gun! Do what you wish with it!
If you're talented with a linen buffing-wheel you can do it yourself, but if you think that warning msg is obtrusive, just wait until you notice you've made your barrel profile egg-shaped!
A gunsmith can rebarrel it, or you can have it turned in a lathe... all it takes is more money than the gun is worth....but I have to say it's a sign of ADHD syndrome IMO if you cannot simply ignore the script and enjoy shooting it. :wink:
Ohhh, This used to bug me too,
I finally figured out if it bugs me I must be looking at it the wrong way.
When One is looking down the barrel, it cannot be seen. So SHOOT it more.
The other half to the solution is 1/2 of that "Billboard" is the Name of the SR&Co. and truth be known you kinda want to leave that on there.
Flatgate's answer I like too; Turn the gun over.
Not to say that I havn't removed my share of Billboards, Now I look back and think what a waste of time it doesn't shoot any better, and that's what one does with a RUGER, SHOOT IT!

It's easy, Basically files, emerypaper, and scotchbright pads and lots of take your time, time, time.
It's your gun & money do with it what you want & what ever makes you happy.

If you don't like it, yes, by all means polish it out, easy to do and one would or could NOT ever tell it's NOT 'perfectly round; with the naked eye, if done properly.....take your time and blend it in, nice thing about stainless, its the SAME color all the way through........not the first one to be 'denuded' :roll:
