this is my first post on this forum. hello everyone. i have a super redhawk that i purchased brand new around 16 years ago or so. its a .454 casull, gun metal grey with a 7 1/2" barrel. it is completely absent of any scroll marks along the barrel where it would normally say super redhawk. its just smooth and blank. i gave ruger a phone call 6 or seven years ago and i really didn't get a straight answer. if anyone here could help me figure this out i'd really appreciate it.

It does depend on your serial number.
Ruger has moved the "SUPER REDHAWK" rollmark around several times on their guns. The earliest have "SUPER REDHAWK" rollmarked on both sides of the barrel extension. Then Ruger rollmarked it with "RUGER" on one side of the extension and "SUPER REDHAWK" on the other side of the extension.
Then Ruger started marking the barrel with "SUPER REDHAWK" and both sides of the extension with "RUGER".
Then of course there is always the possibility Ruger forgot to rollmark your gun with "SUPER REDHAWK" altogether.
From your description, I would bet the latter happened...because your gun should also have a warning statement rollmarked on it somewhere.
