Looking at a Super Redhawk, stainless, .44 mag, 7.5" barrel. Has been "polished" with a buffer to get some stains off. Is there a good way, other than refinishing to brring it back close to original? If not, what would a re-finish job set me back? Should I send to factory?

Thanks

Try some grey synthetic abrasive pad with CLP and gently polish to take the shine down. If that looks too dull, follow up with the white abrasive pad w/CLP. I like the look that the grey pads give, it's a matte finish. If you want more of a brushed look, maybe try lower grit pads.

Clean Lubricate Protect......

It's a brand of general purpose gun oil. I find it works well for a lot of applications, but RemOil or any other equivalent will work just fine, just keep it lubed to help keep keep the finish even.

Check out Robar. For under $150 you can get it blackened - or coated with chrome sulfide.

Likewise look into getting it blasted with used plastic media - creating that satin "velvet" finish all-over. I've had this done with a few stainless revolvers for about $60 each.
