Just wondering if a Ruger Redhawk .44 mag barrel can be used for a Ruger Super redhawk in the same caliber. I bought the later pistol cheap, but some clown sawed the barrel off in an attempt to make an Alaskan! Is this an issue that I can repair with a new barrel? If so, can I use a Redhawk barrel? Is there a resource for Ruger Super Redhawk barrels? Any info would be helpful! Thanks a ton!!!

Go to Hamilton Bowen's website. He does custom work and makes "hybrids" mixing Redhawk and Super Redhawk parts.

Seems to me, that if a barrel had been cut off I would have been real leery of purchasing it.? I have cut the barrel off of a 454 and am quite proud of it, I am sure you could probably salvage the gun somehow. Lets see a picture, there is alot of competent knowledgeable people on this site. :D

I cut the barrel off one and was so happy that I bought another one to do the same. Post some pics, it can be salvaged.

There was a post here about a year ago about a Super Redhawk that went under the knife and it looked great. You might find that a front sight installation would be better than a new barrel. The barrels are completely different on the Redhawk and Super Redhawk. The Super has a straight tube with the ERH being part of the frame. The Redhawk has the ERH as part of the barrel. Two completely different beasts.

yeah. I believe I will get out of this one! The jackwagon that cut the barrel did so all the way down to the frame! and then filed it down very close to the frame. Maybe Ruger could fix it? I think I will pass on this one as it is too much trouble and know how for a garage gunsmith like myself. Thanks!!!

I actually layawayed it at a pawn shop. I got out of it after Ruger told me to stay away from it! For that reason I dont have pics. They were asking 250.00 for it. I can get you their info if you would like.

Wow, an excelent deal. That barrel can come out for sure or......face it, crown it and mill a dovetail for a sight.
