So there I was again, just going to do some shooting, when I went into my LGS and saw a group of pistols behind the counter waiting to be priced and put out when one of them caught my eye. The brass trigger guard gave it away, the prices had not been put on them yet but when I saw the owner I had asked how much and he said he would have a price for me a little later and would call me. I was at the house doing some internet pricing when he called and said I could have it for $350+tax. While I know that is not the super deal of the week, I went ahead and put it on lay-a-way. Its about 85-87% made in 71 with no box or docs and I like the steel frame (SN 91-07xxx). I do not have a bearcat yet and thought it would make a nice addition to the family. I have a soft spot for 22lr revolvers. SO......how bad did I do, I'm not to up on Bearcat prices but from the looks of it after I would of tacked on shipping and FFL fees of an online purchase it appears that I came out ahead/even.

You did OK! It's an Old Model and they've not been produced for quite some time! I have one that's a bit higher serial number...

Apparently I'm mistaken, I thought a steel trigger guard and grip frame constituted a "Super" bearcat?

Three50seven,

The steel, one piece cylinder frame/grip frame casting is what makes the Super Bearcat different from the Bearcat and its' aluminum frame. The early Supers utilized the cast aluminum trigger guards left over from Bearcat production. The sometimes troublesome aluminum castings were soon dropped in favor of the steel, "in house" produced trigger guards. This change makes two major variations of Super Bearcats. Now, on a related note, the New Bearcats use a slightly lengthened Super Bearcat frame, made a bit longer so a properly sized .22 magnum cylinder could be included. That topic is one for a different thread... :D

Flatgate,

I love your pics, they are always such great examples of wounderful firearms. I cant wait to get mine out of lay-a-way and get some range time with it. Does anyone make a any aftermarket grips for it? I like a few that I saw that had stag grips on them. I looked on Patrick's web site and did not see any for a bearcat, any suggestions?

Stag grips have been made for the Bearcats for a long time. Just not any with "Factory" provenance.........
