Son took "Ruby The Staggering" for a late afternoon flight. :)

I just noticed that the plane appears to have a retractable landing gear. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that in a biplane. It’s really a good looking plane. I bet it draws a bit of attention wherever it lands.

Jim will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Beechcraft 17 was the first with retractable gear. Doing so really cleaned up the aircraft and improved speed and efficiency.

Gosh, thought the staggerwing was sexy, but first time seeing it up close with the gear up takes it to a whole new level.
Good photography BTW.

Like a ‘55 Mercedes 300SLR, a ‘64 Cobra Daytona Coupe or a ‘29 Bentley Speed Six, some things just cannot be improved upon. That Staggerwing is simply gorgeous. The photography skills are appropriate to the subject. Well done!
