On balance that’s not too bad. Do you have to take delivery?

I remember delivering untold thousands of gallons for .50 a gallon. Heat like this was absolutely miserable, but at least the hose was flexible.

Yes I have 2 500 gal tanks , 1 I own and the other is theirs, that as long as I buy at least 500 gals per year from them it's rent free, so I filled both of them and will prepay another 300 gal and that will get me thru to this time next year with no problems even if it's a bad winter

We have a 500 gallon tank that we rent and we are on a budget plan that we pay 11 months out of the year. I'm embarrassed to say I can't tell you for sure what we are paying per gallon. Last year we paid $110 per month and we had some carry over. The coming year we are going to pay $90 per month. We have had the same provider for about 29 years. Some of our neighbors have switched providers several times for cost savings but we've stayed with the same one. If I had it to do over again I would have bought a 1000 gallon tank and then I could have changed providers at will, but I've never thought what we were paying was out of line.

$1.449 sounds like a Bargain to Me!! Last 29yrs with my poultry operation I'm sure I have bought 350k gals plus. We always got big discount because of volumn bought. But since I am out of the business, I don't follow propane prices anymore

I wish in Southeast Wisconsin, they would wait till June to do "prebuy". 😞 Around here it comes early May. I think it's high still at that point?

No 'pre-pay' program so far this year but surely will show up later. We usually pre-pay 1500 gallons for the house and usually have some left over. The remainder of last winter's contract filled both our 500 gallon tanks to capacity last month but then, the 24/25 winter wasn't as cold as expected. Hoping the pre-pay price gets closer to $1 or 1.25 this summer.
Delivery is 'as needed' through the heating season.

I just asked my supplier about pre-pay for this winter and was not happy with what they said , pre-pay is going to be priced on a day by day pricing thru the sign up time and todays price was $1.74 they said it was all because of the unrest going on in the mid-east i think that's all BS but them they can do as they please

^^^Yes, we can't even get a firm price on farm diesel delivered. The delivery trucks were running 3-4 days behind in the hectic farming season and the office wouldn't give a price until it was on the delivery truck. o_O
We've decided to gamble on the current MidEast kerfuffle and just buy fuel on an 'as needed' basis rather than buy a tankful at ???? price. Last week, we did a lot of math on the premise that a fuel supplier 40 miles away was cheaper than local delivery to our bulk tank. Turned out it wasn't as lucrative as originally projected so we're back to a daily (during planting & harvest) 25 mile trip to bring home each day's fuel use. At least it's 'fresh'.
