Not too dissimilar. I store mine in the the bottom of the oven (some had storage areas there or it's the broiler area) just like mom and grandma. No rust. And as to critters, well, as both mom and grandma said, cleanliness is next to Godliness.I keep all of my cast iron in the cupboard under my cooktop. Right side up and no special treatment. No worries about water or mice.
Really pondered over a wall rack, but determined that cast iron hanging and redheaded grandsons might not be the best idea.

Today, people pay total strangers to rear their children and don't want to seen as authoritarians for the few minutes a day they get to spend with their children. Kids sense this and run amok.
