Stolen Zeiss

About three years ago this Spring I had a Zeiss Diavari- ZM 3-12 x 56 no. 11 reticle serial no. 732845 stolen off my table at the Tulsa Gun Show.

To date nothing has been heard of it. While part of me hopes the gun that took it dropped it so it was unusable, I would rather try to get it recovered.

My post is to hope that someone has an acquaintance who acquired it at some point would notify me so I could take steps to recover it. Long shot I know, but I had a lost Colt missing since Dec 2013 located and being returned to me as I write this. Miracles do happen!

Please keep your eyes open for my scope please.

If that area is like here about anything of much value that is stolen goes to a pawn shop soon after the theft. I hope you reported it.
Firearms once listed as stolen by using the serial number remain in the active NCIC data base until recovered. Most other stuff gets dropped after 5 years, say a scope. It can be looked up but, harder to do. I recovered several guns years after the theft. I returned a gun stolen in Portland 1980 (something) to listed owners son since owner was deceased by then in 2006. It was found in AZ.

As Kmoore said it was most likely flipped and repurchase by now by an honest owner who probably has no idea it's stolen property. I really hope you get it back.

One of the big reasons we moved out of Tulsa was we were tired of residential break ins. I came home to find my gun safe door all scarred up but nothing missing. Another time not so lucky, lost a Ruger Mark 1, my wife's engagement ring and a couple of fashion rings she was not wearing due to swollen fingers from being pregnant so they were on her dresser. Consider myself lucky.

Nothing like a good LOUD instant alarm system on your doors and windows.
If your safe is locked the thugs will not stick around to try to break it.
We have an alarm system and our neighbors are good enough to call 911
if they hear the alarm system going off for more that a couple of minutes.
If we are home, the truck is in the garage. If they Think we are gone and
kick the door in, God help them!

Since the poster has not said if a police report was filed or not and being in the field of recovering stolen goods. Without that police report made at the time of theft or since. I could even have that scope and you would not get it back, if I was to say the right things when asked. If you never reported it or have a case # handy the police cannot get it back nor can you. Ask OJ about that. Taking the law into his own hands to get back what he said was stolen got him jail time.

Good luck with that! A guy came into the LGS I help out at with 4 "zeiss" scopes he bought on ebay for $134.00 each! Chinese knock offs to say the least.

Oh dear... He got taken.
