Steel floor plate for M77

Has anyone ever made an aftermarket floor plate for the 77? in particular I am looking for one to install on a short action tang safety rifle

I believe Moyers in Mountain Home, Idaho makes steel floorplates & trigger guards for the tang safety.

Moyers makes a steel floorplate and it will run you 75 dollars. I ordered one and it dropped right in and I am happy with it.

The two Moyers I tried were junk and sent back. This was years ago so I assume they have bumped up the quality since.

Nope, they're still about the same.

At one time Ruger offered the 77 Express Rifle floor plates via their parts department; these were polished blue and TRULY a drop-in fit. However, they were discontinued in 2002 and were for long actions only.

The first 77s to have the steel floor plate That I'm aware of was the 458 RSC. I bought several steel floor plates from the Ruger Parts Dept back in the late 70s and installed them in my LA 77s.

The first steel floorplates were offered as replacements for the grey and poorly finished alumunum floorplates right from the first short action Flat Bolts. Every once in while you'll see one on an early Flat Bolt and it seems they were used up mostly on M77V Flat Bolts. Most I have seen are in the 70-8xxxx range and were 220 Swifts. These pictures are of my elk rifle - sn 561 with Line6 synthetic stock chambered for 338/350. It weighs 7 1/2 pounds with Leupold 4x and Steel floorplate and trigger guard. Chono'd some 215 gr. Sierras at 2775 from the 22" barrel. Pretty hard to beat that!
