That's a great way ensure things won't get worse, right?
Here's the "poop" on the story. After 2 extremely mild winters, last year was a bit tougher. As a result, my sewer line (which seemed to have got much closer to the surface over the years) froze and popped a joint right next to the driveway. Among other things, this led to some indiscreet leakage when the liquids found a way to the surface.
Yesterday, I got a call from my backhoe equipped friend telling me he had some slack time to set a cattle waterer and dig out my drain. I already had a full day planned but figured I'd better use the opportunity when offered. Anyhoo, it was quittin time when we finished gouging out the old line and cutting the trench another 12-15" deeper to assure it didn't freeze again. I still had an hour's work to finish another project and neither I nor the digger guy had the right fitting to hook everything together so I just left everything open. I mean EVERYTHING as the sewer was no longer usable. Not sure Grouch Attack was real happy but what's new?
First thing this morning, I hit the HD 40 miles away for 100' of pipe and a couple bags of fittings. By the time I got back, Tom was waiting (darned good thing since I wasn't tracking too well after yesterday's excesses) and we got right along. Two hours of gluing pipe and skid loadering the backfill and we were done. Well, mostly done. HD didn't have one fitting so I wasn't able to glue in the last section of pipe and finish the backfill on the outlet.
As is, the bathroom is functional and it'll only take a year or so to get the driveway settled and packed.
