Star .380

Here is the Star SS .380 I picked up recently. Perfect condition.
I bought a blued one of these back in the 70s.
Great little pistol.

This Spanish gun started a handgun trend: miniature 1911s in .380. I can't remember all of them but some are by Colt, Kimber, and SIG. The original "Colts" were actually made by Star, as was the "Colt Junior" .25 and .22.

Today's picky point. I see this a lot. It's a Junior Colt not a Colt Junior; double checked the slide and owners manual.

Thanks for the corrections, both of you. (Gun people, IMO, OUGHT to be "picky" about details--especially if they're shooting old guns and/or handloading!).

At one time I was a big fan and accumulator of Spanish guns, including handguns. They made some crap, what nation hasn't, but were great at adapting/improving others' designs (the Finns do a good job of this, too). Their "good 'uns" were very good indeed. Only ones I have left are a Star PM .45ACP I got from a retired cop in Oregon and a prewar (Spanish Civil War) AyA 16 double I brought back from Europe when it was easier to do that.

Eddie, I've never seen one of these STAR SS 280's with an adjustable rear sight either. Your front sight is as low as mine and mine shoots way too darned high. When Bowen is done building my OMFT SS in 9MMKURZ I am gonna send him my STAR SS and have him put on a higher front sight and knock that damned thumbrest off the left stock. MIne is accuarte enough to shoot the field course sillywets when I figure out how low to aim.
By the way, isn't that Starvel finish just cool as all gittout ??!!?
