I don't know very much about Ruger revolvers, and even less about the auto pistols. When would have this box been used and is there any value/interest in it? Thanks in advance.

Those were used from the early days of the 6" Standard,, until sometime in the 1960's. I'd have to go back & study a bit to narrow down the next type of box used, and when it became standard. But I believe it was well before 1973.

The next type was the red and white hinged RST4 box like this one. They put stickers on the end for anything else that might fit in there. The other box was for a 6.5" Blackhawk marked BN36.

Per the guide from the esteemed historian Don Findley, these were used from 1954-1973 for the RST6 (6” barrel standard pistols) covering serial numbers from 96,600 through 11-99999. It was the only box for the RST6 from its intro until the one-piece red box in 1973 that watertender shows above.

As to value, it put it $20-25 if in good condition based on what I’ve paid for a couple. I just gave away two of them in the classifieds that were in lesser condition.
