Well, being that Im about as sneaky as an Avalance the title is a bit of a play on words. However, the fact remains, yesterday was a beautiful day to be afield in S. Texas. It was just enough sunshine to be in a T shirt and a pair of comfy jeans. Not by chance I had a very favorite sixgun with me. It was given to me by my friend Chuck who admonished me at the time not to modify it. It came with a set of stocks serial numbered to the gun and knowing I could screw up an anvil armed only with a nerf bannana I had my brother make me a set of nice walnut stocks so I could put the originals in a safe place. I keep it close to me in a Hidestretcher IWB.

I was aided in my stalk by the whir of the feeder moter. It distracted the Jav enough so she turned her back on me. Good thing too! Cuz I'd have a hard time sneaking up on Hoover and Sixshot busy fighting over the last pork rib! Nonetheless, I was able to close the distance.

I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find a handload that would shoot to the sights last year. I was able to come pretty close, but not quite where I needed to be in order to become truely effective on small critters with this classic piece. I stayed away from the hotter loads not wanting to "bend" anything but as I got warmer and warmer with my loads I got closer and closer to the POA/POI. Finally in frustration, I tried some factory plus P stuff and lo and behold I was there. Not what I wanted to do, but hopefully if Im miserly with the plus P stuff this dandy little sixgun will last the rest of my life.

Im reminded of the scene in the movie, The Untouchables, where Ness asks, "You got him?" Well, heres the proof. "Yeah, I got him".

Hey Fermin, did you do like we do when we are spot and stalk hunting desert mule deer? The last 150 yards you take your boots off, slip on a second pair of socks and go get 'em! It definitely quiets down the foot fall thunder and man does it slow you down. Just flag where you hid your boots so you can find them again! Yes that IS experience talking there. Good sneak my no necked friend.

Good to see you revert back to your roots, brother ! Hunting with a treasured sixgun such as this makes it all the more special. I think hunting with fixed sights trumps adjustable sights ! Well done !

Those things eat pretty good?

Lynn, in regards to me, Dick, Fermin, or the Javelina ?

As to the first 3, I'd say yeah, we eat pretty darn well.......
