My father has a stainless mini 30 he wants me to list for him on a local firearm board but I don't really know what they are going for,we are in NY so it being considered a non"assault weapon" helps the value here I would think.
Details
Ser #189-591xx so it is a 1993 from what I have found.
walnut stock with normal light scratches and dings
Stainless scope rings and a Deer field 3-9x 32 scope
1)5 round factory mag

Ditto to above and I'm curious about it being a non assault rifle in NY state.... I guess it might depend on if it has the original 5 round mag... only.

my guess if still legal in NY.... $600 give or take.

I don't know about N.Y., but it would bring an easy $600 in my neck of the woods.
You do know that Ruger no longer offers a "stainless and wood" Mini-30, right?

Last month at the gun show I was set up at I bought a Mint Mini-30 with 4 new U.S.A. 30 round mags for $650.00.
The gentleman showed me his receipt from over a year ago,,,,,for $989.47 he was asking $750.00'

The prices along with those of the Mini-14 seem to have dropped lately.

True that.
"Over a year ago" the OP's Mini might have brought a Grand or better, but as your seller discovered the hard way.......the panic is over now.

I wouldn't mind having one but it'd sure be nice to know if it'll eat steel case ammo before I take the plunge!

Due to our new "Safe Act" any semi auto rifle with a detachable magazine cannot have a pistol grip, thumbhole stock or compensator muzzle break...ect without being considered an "assault weapon" and being subject to registration and being non transferable within the state of NY among other arbitrary and rediculous restrictions including limiting magazine capacitys to ten rounds its a very unconstitutional law which we are fighting tooth and nail to have repealed.
Thanks for the replies everyone,I did try searching through gunbroker but could not find a option for completed listings.

From my own experience and another guy at the range I would say no,this gun would not reliably eat steel nor would his.

I have two buddies who both have Mini-30's and that's all they fire from Norinco I have not heard them say anything about steel case ammo. I've only ran one 30 round mag of the Norinco through mine and no problems. I realize that's no ringing endorsement,,,,

Maybe someone else has had a different experience and will chime in.

Go to advanced search and select the LH tab - "completed listings"...
You need to have a GB account and be logged in in order to search completed listings...

Best of luck on your sale - I have a SS Mini-14 early 80's vintage that I've been considering selling - shuda sold it a couple years back as was previously mentioned... But prices will go back up as the assault on our firearms will never be over...

American Rifleman just came out with an article saying that Ruger does not recommend steel cased ammo... or more to the point there are specifications that ammo is supposed to be made too and most of the commie made bulk stuff is not.... with that said... if you understand the 'problems' that steel cased ammo can cause and more important the solutions and fixes if they occur, and have a little mechanical knowledge... then it's really probably okay to shoot.

In NYS, I'd figure it 20% above the rest of the nation. If mine in NYS I'd advertise it with local gun/shooting clubs around $800-850 and UP! I presume it has a real wood stock?

Once Hillary is sworn in that will be a $2000 rifle!
