SR9c

It has taken the place for my Glock 19 as my edc. I teach concealed carry classes, when I bring out the sr9c over half the class wants to shoot it. As I have posted before Ruger got it right. Pops

Before I bought my first CC weapon, I shot my buddy's G19. That cured me of wanting a Glock. Of course I had been spoiled by several decades of owning a MarkI target model.

I shot the SR9c and several other likely subjects. I just kept coming back to the SR9c, and eventually bought one. Been very happy with it.

Best semi auto I have ever owned. And I have had some great semi's. It is so great to shoot. Once this weather clears, I will take mine out to the range. It has been to long since I shot her last.

I watch the gun shows on the Outdoor and Sportsman channels, and there are several of the 'experts' who shoot 9c's. They have the same good taste in guns that we do.

As I posted in my welcome, I finally got around to taking the carry permit class here in Tennessee and decided to try out some rentals instead of using my S&W .357 - nice to have around, but not so "conceal" on the conceal/carry. I have big hands so I laughed when the guy at the Range USA counter suggested putting the compact in the mix I was trying out. I put each of the rentals through two magazines and picked up the SR9c last. I never picked up another gun after that one. I couldn't believe how good it felt, even with the short backstrap length. So, I took the old .357 to a gun show a week ago and traded her in on my own little beauty.

I took her out to the range this Wednesday and could not be happier. Been drawing at home from a paddle holster and I know I've met my ballistic soulmate.

Just waiting for the permit now.

I picked up my black SR9c this past Monday. Put 50 rounds of cheap Federal 117g through it right there at the gunshop's range - it went bang every time. I cleaned it lightly and took my CHL renewal class the next night and was very pleased with the groupings during the 50-round qualifying, but did have a single FTF (using Remington UDC 117g). Cleaned it again. Yesterday, I put just 20 rounds through it from the same Remington box and got two more FTF. Last night I noticed that the breech face was coated with a brass residue, so I used Hoppes #9 on it with a toothbrush. This morning, I went back to the range and put the last 30 Remington rounds through it without a problem, then 100 rounds of Winchester WB with nary a problem. That's 250 rounds from three manufactures in five days and three FTFs. I think it's breaking in nicely. My groups are looking better/tighter and the thing puts a grin on my old face. It's currently loaded up with Hornady Critical Defense 135g. Wish I'd had it with me this morning to put a few through and see how it would work. I'm not expecting any problems with these (but dang, they're almost 4x the cost!).

This is my first semi, except for a Colt Challenger .22 and my faithful Keltec P3AT. Lots more parts in this one. I'm wondering if I may have caused some of the brass transfer onto the breech face when I put a very light wipe of gun oil onto it during the Wednesday cleaning. Any experience there?

Have a SR9c and like you all say it is one excellent gun. Have several good IWB holsters for it (N82Tactical Pro Holster & the #1 IWB at http://nm-holsters.com/products) Both very nice holsters. I broke mine in with 50 rounds of 147 gr then 100 of 124 grain and now carry it loaded with Hornady Critical defense.
