Like so many invoved shooters, I am always interested in expanding my shooting horizons.

Was at the local Bass Pro Shops yesterday and decided to handle a new S&W M&P 2.0 in 9mm. Right off the bat, I liked two things better than the Ruger, the more aggressive stippling on the backstrap gave a more positive grip and the slide was easier to rack.

But...the trigger, while supposedly significantly improved was inferior to my SR9Cs, a situation that considerably overwhelms the two positives. So, the S&W won't be in my gun safe. Don

I have an SR9c and just bought a 5" M&P9 2.0 and I find the M&P's trigger is much better than the SR's. It's not up there with my 1911 but it's better than the Ruger's. YMMV

That said, they are different types of guns. The SR is a relatively small concealed carry/home defense gun and will see little to no competitive use. The M&P is bigger, heavier and will be a range and match gun.
