sr9 mag question

i was doing some research on either getting a p95 or sr9 or sr9c
and i found some guy on yahoo answers that said the mags from the sr9 work in a p series and p series mags work in a sr9, any truth to this? here is the link to it. just curious if this is true, i am leaning sr9 or 9c and this would make it even better for me since i own a p89 already

I'm thinking the indication that the P series mags and Sr9 mags are interchangeable is incorrect. The part model numbers for the P95 mag is KP-18/10, no doubt indicative of the 18 or 10 round configuration. The SR9 series mags are PN VS00500 and VS00501 for the 17/10 rounders. In my experience, unless the part numbers are identical, they are not interchangeable.

I looked at the owners manuals for both on the Ruger site.

Mags from any P Series Ruger pistol will not work with the SR9 or SR9c. I think physically and dimensionally they are similar, yet the notch(es) for the mag release/retention system are different IIRC.

The SR9 mags will fit in the SR9c, but not vice versa, as the SR9c mags are physically shorter and won't lock in. I'm mainly talking about the 10 round mags, the 17 rounders are fully interchangeable between the full and compact SR9's
