SR9 Loading Failure

I experienced and unusual problem with my SR9, during firing (from several different magazines and ammo) occasionally, the firing pin would fail to retract and it would catch the next round on the top of the rim and fail to feed it into the chamber. It would also occasionally NOT close the slide completely with it hanging up about 1/8th to 1/4 inch back. A tap with a hand would firmly seat the round, but it happened multiple times. I had removed the striker bar and cleaned all the brass shavings out and made sure it was properly lubricated.
I have sent the gun off to customer service after calling them and it arrived yesterday morning at the Ruger Facility in Prescott. They estimate about a week turn around time.
I had sent it via UPS Overnight Saver service and they surely do soak you for that.

ruger will take care of you. they are very good. i had an issue with an lcp last year. the slide rail seperated and fell off. returned the weapon and got it back in a total of three weeks. the pistol had been rebuilt around my serial number and has been flawless since. this was the only time i had an issue with any ruger i ever owned or gave as a gift. my SR9 and the three i have given as gifts have been flawless as has my edc SR40. not to worry!
did you call ruger prior to return? they sent me a shipping label so it cost me nothing but the time without the lcp.

I had the same failure to return to battery with my SR9. Fellow shooters advised me that it would break in with use. Being impatient and a constant gun fiddler I made some mods that seemed to help. First was to remove the mag disconnect with the required striker channel cleaning. Then some more shooting but still not 100% reliable function. So, next was a replacement heavier mainspring fom Galloway. My thinking was a stronger spring would help return the slide to battery and while I was ordering I decided to get rid of the loaded chamber indicator. Another obstacle for the next cartridge on its way to the chamber removed. Well, I'm finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I took it to my club's 50' indoor range yesterday and put 60 rounds through it without a malfunction of any kind. So maybe I fixed it or maybe it finally broke in.

The RWS ammo looks promising too. Now maybe with a little trigger work I'll be able to keep them all in the black.
