who has seen and or fired the new SR45? i have been impressed with my SR9 and SR40, am considering the new one as well.

I'd like to know more as well.

I am very excited about it. A short while after getting my SR9 in late 2011 I E-mailed Ruger about a possible release of an "SR45". I explained that I really liked the idea of a polymer .45 with 1911 ergos and nothing offered at the time by other manufacturers was stacking up. Wanted to know if I should expect an offering from Ruger or if I should "settle" for someone else's product.

The response I got was more or less "We don't have any plans to produce a "SR45" at this time, but check out the P90 for a .45 semi-auto!" I should have expected as much, release dates and red-carpet and whatnot, but never the less I was disappointed.

So I e-mailed the CEO with the device on the website and suggested they do a "SR45" for many listed reasons. Haven't heard back since, and have been kicking around a polymer .45 ever since. Smith had my attention the most ever since adding a safety to their M&P lineup, and on a whim I went on Ruger's website and saw SR45 in the dropdown.

I'm still gathering up bits of beard-hair from the carpet from when my jaw hit the floor like a brick of lead!

Also, if perhaps my idea planted a seed, where's my check Ruger? 8)

Fondled it on the way home last night at a LGS. I was very impressed how close it appears, dimensionally, to the existing 9/40 platform. In the case, I had to do a double-take to see the SR45 on the slide, which would warrant my inspection. The mag looks just like the one which comes with CZ's 97. Matt finish, w/witness holes on either side. The trigger pull on this one seemed reasonable, as the release didn't bounce my sights off of my point of aim on the wall, LOL. While not known for really great pricing, they had it tagged at just $439.

I'd like to handle one ..hopefully tomorrow I'll get a chance to make a run around the area gun shops...and have a treasure hunt...

We have a gun show the last weekend of Jan. and I am hoping that we are not still working OT, I am going to try to get to the show early and if I can find one I think I will buy it.

Bought one this weekend. Shot it for the first time today. I put 100 rounds down range. 230 grain, 50 FMJ and 50 hollow head. No failures of any type. It is an SR in everyway. I stripped it down, including the lower and cleaned it before and after shooting it. No packing grease or shavings in the striker channel. The magazine is a 1.5, not a double stack. It comes with a magazine loading tool, but they can be loaded by hand. Shoots great, very smoth. I was able to achieve a 3 inch grouping at 45 feet. Sights were on right out of the box. It fits in all of my SR9c holsters.

Paid $419 for it.

Looks good on their web site, but think I'll hold out for a compact version and hope they make one. It would go with my other two compacts. Then I'd have the whole family, well in center fire anyway. :)

Same here, but who knows how long that will be, so I'm keeping an open mind on a couple others.

Any idea why they wouldn't release them at the same time?

Maybe they are waiting on the compacts to see how well the full size version sells. If there is not a strong market for them, then it would be good business sense to not produce the compact. This is, of course, just a guess on my part.

My intention as well would be to buy an SR45c when they come out. I just could not wait another year and a half... You can never have too may guns!
