New member, long time Ruger owner..and old.

Was struggling trying to change out the grip on my new SR22 and not making much progress..my gorilla grip or gun fu was weak...then used a silicone hot pad/ jar opener on it...and success.

Posting a picture of a pair of Birdshead Vaqueros, SR22's big Uncles;

OK, just test.

Regards,

I have found that too often, people apply too much grip pressure in trying to remove it. Use less gripping pressure & allow it to slide off.

You may have seen this tip on another forum, but the key is pressure on the front and backstrap and not on the grip sides. If that doesn't work, try shooting as-is for a single range session and/or cleaning/lubing your SR22. I did a combination of all three with my new SR22 and the grip came off very easily.

Thanks gents, your tips both look like they would have worked for me.

Did change mine out but was feeling wimpy there for a while..overcoming a detent, indeed.

Since the harder you squeeze, the harder the job becomes, I choose to believe that those having problems are the toughest of the manly men. :)
