SR22 conversion question

I currently have a 4.5” version of the SR22 and would love to be able to run it with my supressor but there are no threaded 4.5” barrels available. In theory, I am wondering if I could thread my existing 4.5” barrel and run a slide assembly for a 3.5” on it?
Any thoughts?

Possibly, but why? There are so many other options at lesser cost. Sounds like a fools errand. JMHO YMMV.

It could work, but keep in mind the barrel on the SR-22 is not large enough for 1/2-28 threads so an adapter would be needed as well. I have one of the short versions that came with the factory adapter.

You can get the SR22 with a threaded barrel.
I had two, but sold them. I like the 22/45 lite better with a can.

I've said this before: IMHO the barrel retention screw of the SR22 isn't adequate to support a suppressor.

The only squib I ever encountered was my TX22 with my can running Winchester Super Suppressed ammo. I believe the chamber got really dirty and the 45 grain bullet did fully seat and the gun fired out of battery. No damage or injury, just gun powder all through the gun and all over my hands caused by the cartridge case rupturing.

I don't think the squib would have occurred with 40 grain ammo.

Anything is possible. I haven't done any micrometer measurements on the 45 grain bullet shape/diameter vs a more common 40 grain but by simple visual comparison doesn't seem there's any difference in the exposed bullet.

After much trial and error testing I have settled on 40 grain Copper Jacketed for my Kimber Target Rimfire. Best overall performance, barrel, Target Group, cleanliness, combination. Yet that is based on Target Shooting performance, haven't shot steel plates rapid fire. Could make a difference?
