Traded off my Ruger SR1911! HOLY SH!T BATMAN!

Well. I experienced a catastrophe with my Sr1911. Maybe is was more catastrophic in my own mind due to recent circumstances... But, RUST... Horrible unexplainable amounts of rust under the grips. Hearing of this common problem as well all prolems with mim/sight breakages...

It was a VERY accurate gun. So not just ANY substitution would be acceptable... A buddy of mine wanted it to clean up and play with. He had several guns he was interested in offering for trade... It was the CZ75 SP-01 Tactical 9mm. that sealed the deal...

Now my CZ75 Stainless has a nice almost unfired LNIB friend. I need to break her in now. The sights are VERY bright and the action is nice and smooth. NO slide to frame wobble at all.

Also sold my Like NEW pringfield loaded Stainless. Not interested in buying another 1911. Maybe a Sig P220 or something? I still got a TON of .45 ACP...

Edit: Well I got a Sig Sauer C3 Plus this evening.... Its a close enough to a 1911 I guess...
Edit: I also go a Sig P938 Equinox with the deal this evening.... Its more like a colt mustang...

Most CZs are! Rev. you're the one who introduced me to these amazing things in the first place. The ironic thing was....The CZ40B I got from you, was what ultimately turned into that SR1911. Now then back into a CZ again. I actually kinda miss that 40B but I don't miss the accuracy, or the lack there of. The RAMI 9mm and CZ82 are very nice as well...

I miss the P229, but if I could do it over again, I would probably go with a 226 full size. Well I DO have cash from my Springer...

That CZ40 was the final straw for the 40's for me.

The 9mm CZ's Re the ones to get.

I have Sig 229 and 225 .... both spectacular.

Can't go wrong with Sigs and CZ's.

My son got one of the SP01 when they first hit the market. It is a remarkable and 100% trouble free gun. Always a safe bet.
 
Yeah, you are just picky, picky, picky. That being said it is what makes the world go round, and we'd only have one gun. Enjoy your new toy til it no longer strikes your fancy.

i own 4 CZ75s and they are my fav 9MMs to shoot ..
Very highly rated and over the top accurate
 
I'm experiencing some rust too under the grips. But I'm going to get mine Cerakoted so I can keep it (plus it will look cool when done).
 
Really glad I never bought a SR1911 after hearing all the horror stories. :D

I pretty much agree with you. I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous prices for a $600 gun.

Glad I held off. I have lots of other 1911's to shoot. :D

I don't even own a 1911 but have always wanted one, some day if the economy ever gets better I'll get one just not a Ruger, have lost interest in their rust guns.
 
I have mine for over a Year now & never saw any signs of rust any where on the gun what so ever. I field stripped it when I first got it & gave it a cleaning with my favorite EEZOX. And to this day still have not seen any signs of any rust spots on the gun at all.
 
both my SR1911 & CMD are very fine weapons with no problems ...as good or better than the 5 Colts that I own ...run better than the R1 Rem. & both run as good or better with SWC lead reloads than my 2 Kimbers...sounds like a bunch of whiners that don't have the jingles to buy a SR1911 or have no idea how to maintain a SS weapon..IMO

My thoughts exactly. I have 2 of them and they have been flawless. I think they are the best mid-level 1911's on the market. At $650 they are a bargain. What is amazing to me is that the two most vocal critics of the SR1911 in this thread don't even own one, have never owned one, and one of them doesn't own any 1911-type pistol at all. Their knowledge of the SR1911 seems to be limited to stuff they read on the internet from a few owners who have had problems, most of which, have been taken care of by Ruger.

Yeah ... All the dozens of owners with broken front sights, mags that won't feed, and rusted guns that Ruger is replacing are whiners just because you two haven't experienced the issues yet, and countless other owners don't even know to look for the problem.

And the Ruger is an ENTRY LEVEL 1911 .... Not even close to a MID LEVEL 1911.

They're 1911's ... They're pretty much all the same except for bling, fit and finish, and accuracy capabilities. You don't need to own one personally to comment on one based on dozens of actual owner's statements. And if you consider opinions read on the Internet as invalid .... I'd ask you to think about where YOU posted YOUR opinion .....

I don't miss my Ruger SR1911 or my Springfield Loaded... Ok so I miss the Springer a little. But I am enjoying the C3... Almost 100 rounds through it. I could still see a Sig 220 in my future though.

I wasn't impressed by the Ruger enough to keep it. And the Springfield... Well it was ok. I'll probably never own another Kimber or Ruger 1911. Its nothing against them, as they are. They just aren't for me. I see more Sigs in my future. And CZs, at least on the semi-auto spectrum. More Rugers if revolvers or Rifles or rim-fires. Sometimes being "pickey" allows us to know what we really like.

Dozens??? Maybe a dozen broken sights reported here, fewer "rusted" guns..... Hyperbole much? :?
 
Absolutely no traces of rust nor broken front sight on my SR1911 since purchasing it in May 1911. It's approaching 12K rounds.

Two months ago I did replace the front sight with a fiber-optic, but that was just because I like the fiber-optic on my CZ and Mark IIIs so much that I thought one would serve me well on my SR1911. I'm delighted with it, though I didn't dislike the original.

Yeah ... Maybe a dozen ... :roll: .... a dozen in TWELVE FULL PAGES of posts on THIS forum alone .... dedicated ONLY to broken sights ... Some multiple times .... To say nothing of multiple rust threads, and numerous mag threads.

You must be using the new fuzzy obama math .... :D

I . . had . . one that had some problems (no need to start another diatribe about it). I sent it to Ruger and the problem was not fixed. Unlike many others with an SR1911 I have "more than one" 1911 from a different manufacturer.

Once it was not fixed, I took it back to the retailer and traded it in. "Only" lost two hundred on the "deal". Turns out that all of the SR1911s that my retailer received needed a trip to Ruger, and all of them were traded back in at the same retailer.

If you guys got a good one, good for you,
mine was not and I'm not alone with that impression of the SR1911.

Local store sat out a couple of SR1911's at $619.00 each. These are the first ones this local retailer has gotten; in the 2-plus years since they were "introduced". I've lost interest in the SR1911 due to the site, rust, mag reported problems and the delivery problems nobody can deny.

However, I do enjoy my CZ75 and Sig P220! Good call on your trades.
