SR1911 Commander, 7+1, or 8+1??

7 round magazine or 8 round magazine in the Commander??

It comes with a 7 but an 8 will work.

I put seven in all of mine. Don't care how many the mag will hold,
(7, 8, 10), I use the standard 7 rounds.

In my experience 1911 45s work best with the 7 round magazines.

Not a commander but I ordered a spare magazine for my SR 1911 & accidentally ordered a 8 round flush fit mag. It will not seat properly with the slide closed. I went back & ordered an extended 8 round magazine & it is fine. If I carry my SR 1911 I put a 7 rounder in the pistol & a couple of the 8 round extended mags in my magazine pouch.

The only 1911 mags which I've ever had any trouble with were all 8-rounders, so I avoid 'em like the plague.

cocked & locked with 9 rounds of 230gr+P on board, figure the day comes I need to use it in a hurry, nice to know you got big, movin fast and a bunch of it if you need it

7 rounds as designed by J.M. Browning. I use Colt and Wilson Black 7 round mags in my LWT. Commander. (Blued, hate stainless)

Years ago I had problems with 8-round mags and I stopped using them. I haven't had a problem since using 7 round mags.
