SR-556 transfer rod question

Greetings. Rumor mill has spat out a statement that the SR-556 now has a new and improved transfer rod that is field serviceable (sourced from H&K). I am a user of the SR556 and I don't see how this could be without a rework of the design. I've contacted Ruger and asked via email and I'd also like to ask here as if the rumor is false, I'd like to throw some water on it. Thank you.
