SR 45 Owners: I have to know

Tell me what it's like. I can't wait for the SR platform in 45acp. Anybody out there have one? There are a few youtube videos on the SR45, but that's as close as I've come to it.

Yep.
Pretty good so far. Very soft felt recoil, compared to some other 45 ACP pistols.

Fun gun to shoot. Feels great in my hand. Light recoil. A little on the large size, looking forward to the SR45c. It should be the best of both worlds.

Got to handle one at LGS today and I was suprised, the grip to me felt identical to the SR9/40. I had mine with me so it was true side by side. I thought it would be thicker. The ONLY difference I felt was a little more weight.

Wait till you feel one loaded. Big difference, but it shoots great! I'm used to the SR9c, so to me, the grip feels longer. Even then my 17 round SR9c magazine. I have not measured them yet, so it is just a mental feel.

I can't wait to get my hands on an SR45c. I'm thinking that will be the perfect carry gun.

Thanks. I have never shot an SR9 or 40, but have handled them at a gun shop. They feel so much better in the hand than my Glocks. I may have to spring for one in 45. :)

You have no idea how much self-control it took to walk out of the store without the gun. It didn't help that my wife was hitting me in the ribs, saying get it. There was only 1, it had only been on the shelf for 4 hours, it was priced at 499, and I guarantee it's no longer there. I LOVE my current 45 and think I did the right thing in waiting for the 45c. That model needs to get here quick.

I went into my LGS to see if they had any P345s, since they have been discontinued. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get one or not, but thought I maybe should before they disappear. They had two: one blue slide and one stainless, priced at $579 and $599. (I thought that seemed high.) However, right next to them in the case was a brand spanking new SR45, priced at $479. SO, it came home with me!

I haven't shot it yet, or even cleaned it. I guess the mag disconnect removes the same as the SR9s do.... :?:

It was at Wiley's Gun Shop in Wills Point. They usually don't get the real new products on the market first...I think it surprised them that they had it just as much as it did me. :lol:

I measured them against each other yesterday. I put the extended SR9c (17 round) magazine in and the SR45 grip is about 1/4 inch longer the the SR9c.

I know, I'm still wondering if I shouldn' have. But, I already have 2 SR9's, an SR9c, an SR40, and a 15 round non-Ruger 45 that I love. I promised myself that I would hold out for the SR45c, which is what I really want to supliment my full size 45. I will be ALL OVER that one. If I was smart, I would have bought it for my wife (1 of the SR9's is really her's). Maybe that's why she was hitting me in the ribs so hard?

mine went out for the second 100 rouds yesterday. no surprises at all. mild recoil, good accuracy, zero malfunctions and no sign of anything bad at cleaning. i am impressed with this one, but not surprised. i felt the same way with the Sr9 and SR40. tried the galloway guide rod and 20# recoil spring for two mags. after the weapon has another 100 downrange i will use it exclusively. good combination--ruger and galloway.

First post here but bought the SR45 last week and put 40 rounds through her and shoots like a dream. I have the SR9c and had it for about 4 months and that gun is my favorite pistol I have. It is what sold me on the SR45. Like thwm better than my XDMs and I am or was a HUGE XDM fan. These Ruger SR guns are just sweet. The triggers are fantastic and virtually no recoil. Just one question for you SR45 owners. When you slam a full mag into the gun does your slide automatically shut? Mine does and that's an issue. And if I have the slide closed and load a full mag, than pull back the slide to chamber the first round, it pulls back VERY hard!! Just on the first two of fully loaded mags. If there r only 7 or 8 bullets than its OK. Just curious if any of yours did that. Calling Ruger today about it but other than that AWSOME shooting gun!

Sounds like an issue there. My SR45 does neither. The mags were stiff for the first couple hundred rounds, but had no issues with slide slams or difficult racking with full magazines.
