SQUARE TRIGGER GUARD

hello all new to the forum. anyway i'm wanting a sbh 7.5 blued (not the hunter ) but that ugly finger smashing square trigger guard has just about put me off buying one all together what can be done to get a round trigger guard on it with out breaking the bank. thanks for the help looks like a great site

Just swap it for a gripframe/triggerguard from a short-barreled SBH. Still assuming you want to remain all steel, an old Vaquero part will work also for that. Oh - and welcome!
PS. - place a WTB/WTT in the Classifieds here. Some folks like the square triggerguard.

Some crafty people have turned the square trigger guard into a round one by cutting, bending, welding and grinding.

No it won't be the same (larger) grip, but the "regular" XR3-Red profile (NM Blackhawk and old/original Vaquero).

If you don't have an objection to a TWO TONE pistol..I don't....you can install a HUNTER trigger guard...about $120. You'll have to do some fitting also. Then you can sell your DRAGOON grip frame for $75 or more on one of the forums. I've converted several Original Size VAQUEROS with HUNTER grip frames and SUPER BLACKHAWK hammers. I like this set up as well as a BISLEY.

My latest Original Size VAQUERO is a 44 Magnum someone converted into a larger version of the 44 Special Sheriffs model. 3.5 inch barrel, total blue finish, and MAGNA-PORTED...the custom gunsmithing cost more than I paid for the gun! Now to round up a SBH hammer and a HUNTER grip frame for it.

that sounds pretty good edk cause i want to keep the larger grip. can i get that from ruger. what about the trigger guard from a sbh 5.5 blued would that have the same large grip. thanks for the help everyone.

The 4.6 & 5.5 SBH have the regular steel Blackhawk size grip frame, if you want the larger SBH grip size but a round trigger guard your only options are the Ruger Hunter grip frame or custom.

That's the best course of action. Another way is to wear a leather glove, which is the best way to shoot big bore handguns.

I'm unaware of Ruger making a Hunter in blue, you'll have to have the stainless frame finished to match your blue gun.

Brownells DID have the HUNTER grip frame in stock recently...may not TODAY. RUGER may have them also. I've got the grip frames from Midway, Brownells and Ruger at various times. I have them on several Original Size 44 VAQUEROS.

I prefer the dragoon grip frame. Plan to put one on all my blackhawks. I don't understand how you guys are holding it so that you get hit by the triggerguard.

There's a Super BH blue grip frame with the trigger guard already rounded 4 sale on this forum's classified.

If you have to use a hunter SS grip frame, Homestead:
