Spy shot of new 1911 !!

Obviously Ruger decided to deviate from the standard 1911 pattern a bit. Also interesting that they went back to the old pistol naming system. This design was started in 2000 thus the POO designation.

Combat sights, lanyard loop, protected hammer and it looks like the safety button was moved back so it wouldn't be touched accidentally (all lawyer mandated), and for the traditionalists, no forward slide serrations. :wink:

To prevent accidental discharge and make it California compliant it has no firing pin. Reportedly this sample has been dry fired 500,000 times with no peening issues.

Oh man... I certainly hope that is not it!~ That thing is booty ugly in my opinion! And I really don't like the protected hammer! Oh man, I was hoping more for the soap model we saw in another thread. Dry fired 500,000 times? WOW!!! Fun enough job if you can get it I guess.

haha, that was funny... I was thinking as well that the pic was not super flattering, aside fromt the fact the the gun isn't definitely not flattering.

Cheese, I think the pinwheel is so you can use it like a Zippo. After all, gun shaped lighters are so retro cool. :D

Ruger decided to go metric, it's going to be a 12mm.

Also heard from Preskitt that Cheezwhiz got a sample for combat testing and Revhigh got one for accuracy testing. They were sworn to secrecy until after the Steelers win the Superbowl.

So, I am going to get my P00 as soon as my LGS has one. LIke my SR9, I will make sure to clean my P00 thouroughly and deeply. I will also make sure to handle my P00 a lot before heading to the range. I will bet that my P00 will feel amazing in my hand. The squeeze will be soft and break like glass! I am telling you, my P00 will be a hit at the range. I will fire my P00 often and I think my P00 will hits bullseye everytime! In fact, I think I will Conceal Carry my P00 on me at all times. Can you imagine a bad guys face when I pull my P00 on him? I am telling you, he won't know what hit him!!!

Oh I will... I will dry fire my P00 daily and when it is not in its supertuck, my P00 will be around my neck on that lanyard the rest of the time.

This really is the next big thing from Ruger! I think Ruger P00 will hit the market hard, in a way that hasn't happened since the LC9 was introduced!

Cheezwhiz, the P00 is a matchlock. No firing pin but a little built in lighter for the match.

For those of you that have not owned one....The Tokarev is a pretty awesome pistol. It is roughly patterned after the 1911 and fires an armor piercing .30 cal round. They are ugly like most soviet weapons but are also easy to maintain/repair and quite reliable. I would suggest checking one out if you are interested in military/soviet weapons. If you like ballistics you had better take notice of the round it fires also.

The old CZ52 fired the same round, almost as ugly as a Tok.

My boss had a CZ52 for a while. Says it was the LOUDEST handgun he has ever heard. I've been watching for one locally, ammo is still stupid cheap. Impressive ballistics, 85gr FMJ @ 1450 The Tok is $199 at JG Sales.

Yeah they are loud, I've never owned one but have shot a couple over the years. They have them at a couple of LGS's around here. I'll check prices on them next time I stop in, most of them look too nice for an old pistol.

Sorry Cheese I did not mean to imply that the HK came first its just that most relate the Roller system to the HK system due to several different arms in the HK line [rifles]that use it or a similar design. The roller lock up was used on the CZ52 in order to allow the hotter Czech sub gun ammo to be fired in a pistol without tearing it up. But fact of the matter the design was borrowed from several other designs before the CZ52 so it is neither Czech[CZ] or H&K but rather German military[MG42] IIRC. Sorry for any confusion.

Al, I was having fun with it.
The Germans and the Czechs have co-oped, shared, stolen, borrowed designs from each other since before WWI.
My affection with CZ starts at the CZ75. There are a lot of guns that were made that have a CZ in it's model number that have nothing to do with what is now CZ. It just meant that the gun was made in the Czechoslovakia. During the cold war there were about seven large factories that designed and produced guns for the Government. The one in Uhersky' Brod is where the CZ75 was designed and made, it is now a private/government arms business. The CZ52 was made at UB but well before the CZ75.
