speed strip kit for mk. pistols

just browsing the latest edition of handloader magazine and in the 'product news' column they mention a speed strip kit for ruger mk. 1, 2, and a new kit for mk. 3. made by Majestic arms in new york.

new to me. anybody had any experience with these kits??? positive???negative???

In the time it takes to unscrew the bolt I can have mine field striped and laying on the bench. It's really just a matter of how you want to do it. Nothing wrong with the Majestic way. JMHO.

My thoughts: learn to do it the way WBR intended.

Once you've got the hang of it, it's no big deal.

Forgoing the Majestic kit gives you these benefits, the way I see it:
1) Cheaper, no need to purchase kit
2) No tools needed, save for a strong fingernail or perhaps paperclip
3) Probably quicker, as Baldy mentioned
4) That's the way WBR intended (for the purists out there!)

I think most "serious" MK fans choose to forgo the kit, but like Baldy said, it's up to you!

I agree with all of the above and will add this. I bought a used MK II that had a speed t/d kit already installed. I thought it was kinda cool at first, but having already been a long time MK owner th enovelty wore off and it quickly got removed. The kit is now sitting a parts drawer.
