I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. I know Pachmayr makes (made) their Gripper model grips for the Speed Six and Security Six. Is the Speed Six version any smaller than the Security Six version or are they the same grips just cut for a round butt? I can't tell from pictures and I don't want to waste the money on the Speed Six version if they're just as big as the Security Six version. Here's what they look like for reference.

I believe only difference is how they're cut inside for the round butt.
Same physical size otherwise.
Thank you! That's what I was thinking just wanted to make sure. I have a set for the Security Six and they fit the Speed Six just fine, I didn't want to go spend money on the Speed Six version just to find out they were basically the same.

My search for grips continues, so far the best I've found are the factory rubber Sile grips. I tried the Pachmayr Compac Pros with the exposed backstrap and they weren't good for me at all. I'm assuming the factory wood stocks would be just as bad as the pros. Hopefully once I find a better holster I'll be able to conceal the Grippers better.

Hittman is spot on. A Security Six with just the lower square corners of the grip frame rounded & a set of Speed Six stocks installed.

Thank you! I actually have those grips for my Speed Six, only I have the "pro" version that doesn't cover the backstrap. How well does that version shoot? I know the pro version is not fun to shoot with at all. That's why I wanted to know about the Gripper grips. I was hoping the Speed Six version would be smaller but since that isn't the case I may as well use the ones I have for the Security Six. They fit perfectly so no sense in wasting money on a second set.

I think I'm just going to have to find a better holster, one I can adjust. I have a decent leather holster but I can't adjust the clip on it at all so it prints unless I have heavier clothes on.

Since your desires are to get your Ruger compact enough to CCW,, AND carry comfortably, as noted,, often a different set of grips can be a good idea. But sadly,, unless you go the custom route,, grips for guns that have been out of production is often limited.
But maybe you are on the right track about a different holster.

A well known, very gun savvy & wise writer, Skeeter Skelton used to say; "Next to my doctor,, my holster maker is the most important friend I have." He understood the NEED for a top quality, well fitted holster for his various duties as Border Patrol, Sheriff, & life long lawman.

Due to the level of work he turns out,, some of us who personally know Mike Barranti hung the nickname "Doc" on him many years ago. His holster work is the best. Not cheap,, but the best AND very, very functional. Maybe look up "Barranti Leather" to see if he has something you'll enjoy. if not,, he can make it. He's made over 1/2 dozen for me.

I have a set of grips just like these for my Smith & Wesson model 64-2 and they are about the most comfortable carry grips that I have ever owned.

I probably have an extra grip like gunzo shows in his post if you are interested.
I actually have those grips too but I have the pro version so they don't cover the back strap. I'm wondering if the version that covers the back strap would be a better option? For now I went back to the Sile grips.

The ones on my Speed Six were made by Sile. Pretty sure they are physically the same size.

I just went back to the Sile grips, they're smaller than the Gripper grips. I tried the Grippers from my Security Six on the Speed Six, surprisingly they didn't make a difference while shooting. They made my Security Six seem like a whole new gun but I think the Sile grips are actually better on the Speed Six. So far the Siles strike the best balance between concealabilty and shootability.
