I just bought a box of Winchester .38 Special +P 125 gr. JHP. I was just wondering if this ammo is OK to use in my SP101 357? I picked these up at the local "Wally World" for $19.97 for 50. Seems like a good deal. They are suposed to be "Personal Defence" rounds but I am going to use them for target practice at the range.

WELCOME to the Ruger Forum, customf1!
Yer Ruger'll shoot ANY factory production ammo .357 Mag, or .38 Spl. you'll feed it, all day long... And it'll likely outlast yer grandchildren!

Yes the little sp101 is a tank. It will handle any 357 or 38 commercially made you can find with no problem at all. The sp101 will make you back down from shooting it before it will be over stressed. Yes you can buy factory loads that are uncomfortable for you to shoot in the sp101 but it will handle these loads easily without problems. In my opinion the gun will let you decide where to stop with ammo well before you overload the gun. I love 38's in my sp101's
