SP101 with Wolf springs

I have Wolff springs in all 3 of the SP's here. It is smoother. But, I also cleaned up the actions when I was in mine.
I put the 10# hammer spring in mine and didn't touch the trigger return spring. I noticed a decent difference. Not smoother, but it is lighter. One of these days I would like to smooth out the internals or have someone more knowledgable than me smooth them out. From what I hear that is even better than the springs.

I put 12lb hammer spring and 8lb trigger return spring in my 22lr SP101 and also smoothed out parts with very minor polishing. SA is great, DA is a lot better than original. I tried a 10lb hammer spring first but got a lot of misfires so went up to the 12lb. Real easy to switch springs out!

I went with the 10# hammer spring and the reduced trigger return spring and the single action pull was reduced from 4 lbs to 3 lbs. The double action pull was much improved too but my trigger pull gauge won't go high enough to know by how much. I also installed the shims, but I can't say that they made a difference 8)

A well polished SP will usually have reliable ignition and trigger return with the 10# hammer and 8# trigger springs, but for a defense DAO weapon I think I'd stay with the 10# trigger and 12# hammer springs.
But you have to test the springs in your gun with your ammo, results can vary from gun to gun.
The difference between a OTB SP, and a fully polished and re-sprung SP is amazing

I put a 10 lb hammer spring in my SP 101 but took it out. One misfire due to a light primer strike is one too many, in my opinion. This is a special-purpose revolver when used in double action. Specifically, it's for self-defense at close range. There won't be any problem pulling the trigger when it's really needed. If the gun is needed to shoot some sort of four-legged varmint (armadillos come to mind) cock it and shoot it single action.

Changing springs on a gun withouth smoothing the action is like putting a pretty dress on an ugly woman. (With my apologies to the ladies.) :roll:

Yes, they are almost identical, mainly the GP parts are just larger. One item not covered completely in that tutorial is to remove the spring and polish the hammer strut well on all 4 sides.

I have a 3" SP101, DAO, that I bought used. The action was already smooth but stiff. I put in the lightest trigger and hammer springs from Wolff. The gun functions perfectly and has made the pull much lighter and the gun easier to keep on target when firing. A great improvement for me.
