I purchased a SP101 and the trigger seems to hang up on the reset. The recoil always makes sure it resets but just feels sticky in that one spot. It was made in 2003 and is in 32 H&R mag.
Its more annoying than anything and bugs me.
I thought about sending it back to Ruger but would rather avoid that if I could get the answer from you guys.
I had a SP 101 in 357 mag and it didn't have this issue.
Thank You martyj

Perhaps the trigger return spring is too light / might have been replaced. Aftermarket springs are an easy change. :D

A good cleaning & polishing might fix the problem.
This is the best instruction I've found.

+1 a good cleaning and action job like shown in this link would a big help, I'd stay away from after market springs they tend to cause more problems than they help, it could be part of the problem your having now someone my have put after market spings in the gun, you never know when you buy one used.

My SP101 took some time to break in, lots of dry fire and doing this action job made the trigger real nice on it.

Give it a good cleaning. Even a tiny bit of debris in the trigger spring guide will make the reset rough.

I have a Dan Wesson that had a different trigger issue and I kept trying to bring it into the local gunsmith to be looked at ....... they kept insisting on removing the grip and hosing it down with gun scrubber or such ..........

I finnally did .......... and they were right!

It's snake eyes now!

Get your grip off and hose that puppy down ........ work it and re-hose it!

It can't hurt.
