SP101 9mm prices

What is the going price for one with 2 1/4 inch barrel, stainless, stock grips, full hammer, not bobbed in about 96-97%?

Seems people have been paying around $550-$600 for the 9mm SP101s. Crazy.

I bought mine for 650. That may be too much but for myself it was worth the price. IT won't ever be sold and the value was in the eye of the beholder in my case. That said I watched them go for between 550 and 650 on gunbroker. There is the mythical finds out there for less but I have yet to see them.

Smokngun, I paid that and more for my 9mm SP101s. I wanted them and bought them and never looked back. Sometimes there are several available on the auctions/in the forum classifieds and sometimes there aren't any. Although I decided to sell all of my 3 1/4" (or are they 3") SP101s I am never selling the 2 1/4" models.

Thanks for your replies. I can pick one up for 600. So i guess the guy isn't out of line in his pricing. with the price of 9mm ammo, it should make up for the cost of the gun.

I would but in a heartbeat. It is one of my favorites. i would have paid 750 for it. Enjoy those moonclips. I have 50 ready to go. Consider Ranch products moonclips. I just ordered a meprolight night sight also.

Shot Show will be here in a month, wondering what goodies Ruger will have this year? A 9mm LCR would be great!!!

When you find them,, they aren't cheap. I have my (not for sale) Speed-Six,, and it's a fun gun. I sold that externally abused Service-Six several weeks ago for a very fair sum,, and the new owner is going to restore it to a nicer condition.
From what I've seen,, $600 isn't out of line for a nice SP-101 in 9mm.

I know they are running really high, but they are still cheaper than some of the competitors's out there-and it's a Ruger!

I will own one someday! I am still young! I am trying to swing a deal for a pc9 if the the guy still has it after Christmas it will be mine!

Maybe the new owner of your abused gun will put it back up for sale after it is given some tlc!!! :D

I have been lookimg fo one to go with a G19.
Think it would be a money maker for ruger to do a couple runs.

I'd completely agree with that price assessment. Having said that, I'd NEVER pay it ... EVER ... simply because it's still a $350 gun.

No reason for it to cost that much, and from a value viewpoint .... just not worth it. 9MM's are for automatics. You could buy an awesome auto in 9MM for $650, or buy an SP in .38 or .357, AND a halfway decent 9MM auto for the same $650.

If you want one just for uniqueness or for collector purposes ... fine ... go for it.

Just my opinion .... I've been there and done that. :D

I already have high end semi-autos (SVI, etc) so my SP101 9mms are indeed because I wanted a revolver in 9mm (uniqueness). Of course we pay the high prices because the guns are out of production, the old supply and demand issue I guess. I always overpay for guns that are hard to get because I don't have any patience! :cry:

So, if there are people (maybe a lot of people) willing to pay twice the price of a SP101 in 38/357 just to have it in 9mm, why, for crying out loud, has Ruger stopped making them??

Does anybody know the reason?

Jeff Quinn has been saying ruger is coming out with at least 4 new guns this year so keep your fingers crossed.

I'd think that a 9mm revolver would be a very slow seller and not cost effective to produce. Most people I know go with high capacity semi autos for 9mm. Maybe I'm wrong and if there was a 9mm revolver that was reasonably priced more people would buy one. But I doubt it.

I only have a couple of SP101 9mms because I wanted a revolver and thought why not get a 9mm so I can use the same ammo as some of my semi-autos. I just wanted something different and also purchased some single actions (Single Six, Bearcat, 9mm/357 SS Convertible Blackhawk). Prior to those purchases I was strictly semi-auto handguns.
