That's the factory location for front sight/bayonet lug on the GB model.

The plain 10/22 I got when my grandfather passed away (he'd previously passed on to me a Remington Model 12 ('36), Winchester Model 72....22LR provided a lot of food for the family over the years).
The K10/22T I bought new in '98, has a re-worked factory barrel and trigger group as well as many other mods and is a tack-driver, lots of fun!
The Mini-14 K-GBF sat in my uncles patrol car (OHP) for years. When they retired them I bought a couple. Factory nickel 30 round mag! It's also a lot of fun.
MkII Competition Target (stock except front sight and a VQ grip that's not on it now).
MkI Bull Barrel (stock except front sight).

I had a Hogue stock on the mini for practical rifle matches but recently switched back to the factory folder. I hope to shoot another match with the folder soon.
