Some More Dog Pictures

I hope ya'll don't mind some more puppy pictures of Jelly. Rainy is even warming up to him and they play in the front yard together.

And just holy cow, Australian Shepherds are just so smart. It's crazy to see how many words he's picked up in the last week. Apparently with new puppies these days, everyone is saying to not go around other dogs until a week after his last puppy shot. I remember with Blizzard, we got him and took him to start training the very next week. So he was like 9 weeks old when we started training. Jelly will be about 15 weeks old before I can take him to some sort of training school. Now, I'm doing some here at home. I remember a lot of it from Blizzard, with a clicker etc. So Jelly knows a few basic commands, like "sit." And today we were practicing loose leash walking. Which is important, because we didn't do that with Rainy and sometimes she starts power driving in 4 wheel mode (4 legged drive if you will) and she's strong.

So third time's charm, hopefully. Perhaps I can get it right with Jelly.

He tried out a couple of shelters, but didn't like them.

He tried out our place, decided it suited him well enough, and he stayed.

We’ve got some friends that like and have German Shepherd dogs. They too are very smart. Must be something about working dogs.

Beatiful dog Kevin, as well as everyone else. Always love how dog threads quickly devolve into everyone showing off theirs.

In that vein, here's mine.

Oliver
16 month old Belgian Malanois (mostly) cross. Has some German shepherd, boxer, pitbull, and a smidge of Great Pyrenes in there among others.
Weighs in at a svelte 95 lbs, with pretty much zero fat.

Maligator is not an understatement whatsoever. I live on 35 acres over 1/4 mile from any roads so he can run free when I'm around, and I shudder to think what this dog would be like in a fenced in yard in town. There is an energy level there, that I have not dealt with in my dog history. Still he's an incredible amount of fun, and super intelligent.

Keeps watch over my many motorcycles. More than what is in this pic.

The love and loyalty of the German Shepherd is beyond compare with any other dog. I had two in my life. What pals they were. Hell on the neighbors and anyone else!

We have raised and bred Australian Shepherds for over 25 years …. Always thought they were an best breed! Still have 3. Great dogs!
But……….
Our first BMD and I have to say I’m blown away! What an amazing breed! This guy is so smart and Loves more than any dog I’ve ever been around. Always so Happy. He will walk through fire to try and please you!
The only down size is they don't live as long as most breeds!

No, they do not. Which is why one needs two or more and spread out the ages. Keep refilling the ranks as time goes by. Your assessment of the breed is spot on.

I love these dog threads! Then TRD put up pictures with Moto Guzzi bikes so I had to jump in. Here's my current French Bulldog Baba Ji and his much missed predecessor Mischief. I'm single handedly trying to get the Frenchie recognized as a Sporting Breed. Although they're not too sporting after a five or six mile walk!

Our 3 Aussies, not the best pictures, but it's them, we almost list the little one(mini) to a coyote attack last month, luckily I had my 30-30 handy, but he suffered some serious wounds, he's all healed up now, and his fur is growing back, vet had to shave him for stitches

Ellie, our 120# Colorado Mountain Dog (Livestock Guardian Dog). She’s as gentle and protective of our grandchildren and mini dachshunds as she is of chickens, goats etc. Then our two remaining dachshunds Rex and Coco.

We had a neighbor that had a Bernese Mountain Dog, Buddy. He barked a lot. And at the time I didn’t know anything about dogs so I just steered clear of him.

We talked about getting a Bernese but then Jelly came along, probably at the right time too. He is just awesome.

Here's another one of my dogs, with another motorcycle. This old boy has been gone since 2017. This is Mr. Marbles. Boxer lab mix. Made it to the ripe old age of 14. Was a surprisingly good dog for pheasant hunting and made a lot of high dollar hunting dogs look bad when he could find birds that they couldn't.
