This is an interesting design that might even become popular. It uses IR sensors on the pistol that activates/deactivates the laser when your finger or thumb passes thru the sensor plane.

XTech Tactical Changes the Pistol Laser Market!
Laser is the equivalent of a smartphone in a flip phone market! The Smart Laser instantly activates using two IR sensors as the user naturally moves his trigger finger off the slide and toward the trigger. The output of the unit is a 200-lumen LED light and world-class green laser. The unit also allows for traditional side button activation as well and has five modes that can be selected, including strobe options. The Smart Laser fits both Glock and picatinny rails.

Got S&W Body Guard 38 Snubby revolver with factory laser. I like it a lot!
Got a manual on off switch which is ok I guess. That auto on off would
be so much better technology keeps moving on :D ps

Provided it's reliable & rugged enough, of course. :)
