I know, so much stuff it was hard to catch it all. I did find the LED lighting when you open the case kind of interesting and probably not what one might want. If you need a light inside the case to be able to find the gun... .well....
I actually bought one of their safes a few months ago... on a whim... the "Sig Sauer" named one.... it sits in one of my secret storage areas... empty... I really can't quite come up with a practical use for it... not having any children in the house or any that come to visit.

And what do you think of the quality of this brand of safe? I wonder how long it will last before the electronics start to go crazy. I use a wireless charger for my phone, but they don't seem to last more than about 2 years.

When I bought my house I bought a beautiful cherry wood alarm clock with a hidden gun compartment. It’s still going strong but I hear the company is out of business.

Sounds like this is the modern version.

yep, you bolt the thing to the beside table and I guess they have to carry off the entire table. I can see the need for something like this if you have young people around or even old demented people.... (but then that might include some of us) but for the normal childless gun enthusiast, is there such a thing?.... locks are pretty much to keep honest people out.... I hired a lock smith to open a warehouse office one time and he had a much harder time getting the loose worn out regular door handle lock to open than the brand new dead bolt which took him about 10 seconds... then again for a criminal they can open just about any lock in a matter of seconds.... the real secret in most homes built nowadays with vinyl siding... just cut a hole in the side of the house... if you are in a hurry use a cordless sawzall.... for pad locks cordless right angle grinder with a thin metal cutting blade....

Oh and for the answer about how good these are... and longevity... I don't have a clue... the one I have I've played with a couple of times but have never really used it.... can't really figure out what to do with it.

Call me a downer or rock headed old man. But I'd rather have a gun vault with 1" bolts that I'd have to loosen with a 3 foot wrench to get open before I'd trust a bunch more electronics than we already have.

Knock wood,,, my 30 year old Am Sec mechanical dial safe still going strong. Not even the revered S&G dial, it hasn't moved a half number off it's combination settings.

Just to keep in that thread.... I've always been amazed at the NRA 'speak' in their safe handgun course that they should be unloaded and locked away.... I have a friend that was given a 357 mag revolver and she doesn't even keep the ammo near the gun... I just shake my head at things like this.

I use a GunVault handgun "safe" which is bolted into my dresser. Any gun not on my person can be kept in this small safe and readily available to me, but safe from visiting grandchildren, etc. This electronic safe is intrigueing, but a bit costly and certainly visible to any and all who are present. One feature that does not impress me is the wireless phone charger. To use any wireless charger pad you need to take the phone out of its protective case, a pain to do regularly. When someone makes a wireless phone charger pad that can charge my phone while in its Otter protective case, then I might be interested.

That is really the only practical reason I can see for one of these.... if you have children or grandchildren around... even if you are comfortable with them and they have been trained... they can and will have friends over.... I grew up with guns out and around our house and I know I have made and survived more mistakes than I should have.... 12 gage shotgun blast through a ceiling and 38 hole through the floor of my mother's car are just a few.....

None of these small gun containers is really a safe, but can be a convenient place to keep a loaded firearm without risk of a visitor or child casually finding it and hurting themselves or others. You can buy a simple steel container with a three digit mechanical combination lock that you can bolt into a bedside table drawer or use the included cable to secure it to the seat in your car or truck. It won't stop a determined thief (but either will many so-called "safes" that can be cut into relatively easily with the right tools) but it will keep the kids from getting the gun or the thief looking for an easy opportunity to just grab a gun that is unsecured. You can get one of the small steel containers for about $40 or so and not spend $400 for essentially the same protection.

My safe is the old fashioned tumbler type. When I got it electronic safes were just becoming the rage and tumblers were being sold off at deep discounts. Funny the guy selling it told me (soto voce) that my safe will out last me but electronic safes will not.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a fellows house to pick up some leather work and he wanted to show me his pistol in the carry rig he made which was "conveniently" stored in a small shelf E-safe. His battery was dead and he couldn't get it saying he's have to get a battery for it and I said "bang, you're dead" it went over his head

I never put my carry gun is any safe, it's either on me or within easy reach as there are no children in my home.

One of my few worries in regards to unsecured guns is the off chance that a child does come to my house.... the one set of neighbors who lived across the street with a young boy have moved and now so far the only chance is the maid bringing her son in. She usually does not have him or sends one of her helpers.... but I'm pretty sure she also knows where most of the loaded guns I have 'hidden' around are. At least she should if she is cleaning even half way decent. The upstairs is my wife's domaine and that is where they clean... they never come down stairs into my area... would probably have to revive them if they did.... the further you go on the lower level the worse it gets.... and there is usually a gun or two just laying about.... but most of these are not loaded.

just for kicks here a picture I took of the area behind me as I sit at my computer in my office. My ex-employee Beauregard (he stopped jumping in the van back in June) laying on the Bench with my 'wall of fame behind him and leaning against it one of my favorite rifles.... an evil black assault rifle... I guess one of the first ones 'we' ever made.... it was 81 years old this past May! I have modified it a bit....
