Slide not locking back after last round

Im a fairly new Ruger Security 9 owner. Ive noticed that the slide sometimes doesn't lock back after the last round is fired.Maybe it's my imagination but it seems to happen when I load the magazine using the auto forwarding feature. Can that be?

From that other post the most helpful comment I saw was this,

"Have you tried pulling the slide back on an empty mag? If it locks back it's either a limp wrist or limp ammo."

Why would you think that last round hold open is affected by how first round is chambered? Maybe I misread your question???

Is it a new gun? If not, the most likely culprit is a weak mag spring.
What happens if you rack the slide by hand with an empty mag? If it lock back fine then and it is a newer gun, the recoil spring just might need some breaking in. That shouldn't be the case, but it could be a combination of things.

Thanks I’ve only had it a couple of months and shot maybe 500 rounds through it

Yes it’s not really chronic, it’s occasionally
