Single Six Convertible Questions

Hi All,

I just picked up a SS Single Six 5.5' barrel that looks like new. Mod# 00668 & Ser# is 265-26XXX which makes it a 2010. I know that 2003 was the 50th anniversary for the Single Six. This has a Stamped 50th Anniversary Mark in Gold under the hammer. Was this done on all of the Single Sixes? I want to use this for plinking and target shooting but don't want to damage the value if it is something special.

Additionally, in terms of maintenance, is there anything I should or should not do? It seems pretty straight forward but some things can be missed.

If you can, post a picture of the logo & location here. I'm trying to picture how a 50th mark would be under the hammer.

It must be on the top of the grip frame right behind the hammer where "the last cowboy" models have the gold filled figure.
Look again, it's a distributor exclusive 60th ann (of Ruger firearms) model begun in 2009 for Ruger's Talo Group with a gold adornment in that place. But they were too numerous to be very collectible, made over 1500. Early issues had the small (same font as rest of text) Newport address in the warning label. I say shoot away.

Thanks for the replies. Jim, you have it correct, it does say Sixty and has Newport NH under the safety warning. My eyes are not what they were. :( I bought it to shoot but would not like to run up the count on a rare revolver, so thought I would ask. I had a Blackhawk .357 back in the early 1970s and always enjoyed it but wanted something that would not eat my wallet in ammunition. I've had my eye on the Single Six for a while now and found this one close to home.

Is there any special care for the SS revolver?

Just shoot it and wipe it down. Repeat as needed. Every once in a while you'll need to clean and oil the basepin and swab your chambers. If the bore is not leaded, don't worry about it. Get a set of properly fitting screwdrivers from Brownells and periodically check the grip frame and ejector housing screws.

Thanks for the pointers and I plan to take it out to sight it in. I'm thinking this is going to be very accurate, or at least as accurate as I am. I really like the balance and it seems to be very well built.
