also add that back long ago at times Ruger put a small white label on the end of the box that said "With Walnut Grips" about the only time I ever saw anything referred to as what grips are on the gun in the box, NOT what was ordered and/or added added later on at the shop or by the customer, or even a factory note "at the customers request".........:unsure:(y)

As hittman has stated,, it's rare for Ruger to have the info on the grips unless it's in the model designation, or as Dad mentioned,,, with a sticker label on the box. Especially in the older guns. They didn't bother to keep detailed records in the 50's, 60's and 70's for the most part. If a gun was made in something other than "production" say for a special order by Bill, then sometimes it did have more details in the records.
