also add that back long ago at times Ruger put a small white label on the end of the box that said "With Walnut Grips" about the only time I ever saw anything referred to as what grips are on the gun in the box, NOT what was ordered and/or added added later on at the shop or by the customer, or even a factory note "at the customers request".........

It is a "0" .
The gun was made in 1959.

As hittman has stated,, it's rare for Ruger to have the info on the grips unless it's in the model designation, or as Dad mentioned,,, with a sticker label on the box. Especially in the older guns. They didn't bother to keep detailed records in the 50's, 60's and 70's for the most part. If a gun was made in something other than "production" say for a special order by Bill, then sometimes it did have more details in the records.

So basically , there is no way to tell if a set of stag grips are factory or not ?
You just have to take the persons word for it ?
