single six 22 mag

I picked up a RUGER SINGLE-SIX WIN.22 RF MAG. 3 screw 321231 SE#. It had no cylinders. What can I do to get a mag and lr cylinder for it? Please advise.

Update. Called Ruger and they said that with the safety upgrade thay can make both cylinders for $115.00. I figured by the time I ship I will have $350.00 into the whole gun. I guess it was a decent deal after I get it back.

Best bet is a classified here on the forum and keep an eye on the Gunbroker ads. Measure the space between the forcing cone and ratchet face and look for a cylinder with an overall measurement the same , very close or longer.
I believe it needs to be an OM cylinder to be correct and work properly.
And be careful with fitting a LR cylinder. It it is an early magnum gun, the bore size is not the same as the convertibles. The experts will explain better than I can.

yessir, welcome to the Forum...... if it is an early, low numbered in the #300,000 range it just may be a :"magnum ONLY" gun, a call to records will verify this is any doubt...at least you'll only have to buy ONE cylinder..........the mag one........

but yes, you can make that gun either way, the bore will be the larger diameter if its in the Mag Only range of numbers...just gotta find one that fits properly...do you know anyone that has a few different old model 22's??? I would keep trying till you find one that fits, then go from there...its hard for some folks to try and measure across the frame window, AND get an accurate measurement...do you know any machinists?? they should have the proper gage to do this for you.....................if you live out in the far west, try 'jussbad' out in Kallyfornya, he usual has a "stock" of old model cylinders....

You could probably look on the side of the frame and see if it is marked a Mag Gun 300,000 to 394 740 were marked RUGER SINGLE-SIX WIN.22 RF MAG. CAL :lol: :lol: :lol: BUY THE 22lr CYLINDER SO YA GOT CHEAP SHOOTING :wink:

I see you have added the 321231 SE# to your first post - that makes it an interesting number, probably a mag only made around 1961.

$115 sounds reasonable...

Then again, being one of the nuttier gun nuts, I'm thinking about something "custom" in .22 cal....hmmmm....K-Hornet? :shock: 8)
