I have a 22 mag cylinder for a single six that I bought new in 1978. The gun is long gone. Since it has partial serial number on it, is it safe to assume it will only work with that gun? Trying to determine if it is saleable and what it might be worth. Your input is greatly appreciated.

As mike722 stated, they are sorta "universal" HOWEVER things can also be "out of time". Unusual, but possible.

Of course, if the "new found" cylinder is "rattling to and fro" within the Cylinder Frame then the cylinder needs some serious fitting. Too much "end shake" can result in misfires, etc.

So, proceed with caution is my advice. Safety First!

yes, it is "saleable & safe to use", if properly fitted and installed...........
depending on condition of your cylinder, it is somewhere in the $40-60 range across the internet.......................
