Single action question..

I know this is a Ruger Forum but we also have other interests. Does anyone have Pietta single actions?
I am looking at a Pietta 1873 45 colt. I have read some good reviews, Does anyone have first hand knowledge with them. Mostly durability. The one i'm looking at has the brass (colored?) frame and matte finish. I would appreciate all reply's.

Durability is the issue. Springs and coarse actions is the usual complaint. All Italian clones are improving in response to market demand and therefore the importer demands. The imported spring steels have had a bad record. You can replace with Colt or after market springs or wait till they break. The cyl pawl leaf spring is especially vulnerable and I replace those with the Ruger coil spring and plunger. Any action can be tuned but plan on it for most clones.

Other than that fit and finish is in the eye of the beholder. Some clones have trouble getting the grip frame shape and angle correct. So it's important to handle one that you plan to buy to be sure you're hand likes it.

Look at the Uberti Cattleman. Matte blued finish and brass frame 1873 Colt clone. The Hombre model is the one you describe. A guy brought one into the LGS last month while I was there and they are a nice gun.

Thanks for the reply's. I was just wondering about durabilty. I just got a itch for a 1873 colt clone.
