Sighting in Henry w/scope

In case someone reads this, the rifle is my new .41mag Henry carbine. Mounted the scope this past Friday. Finally got out in the back yard to sight it in this morning.

Scope sighted in @ 50 yds. 10 shot final string. Bull is 2" dia. The vertical low balls (last 3 shots in the string) are my heart beat - too much coffee this morning - need to cut back. :wink:

Looks good! If you reload for that.41, Missouri Bullets has a 215 gr. “Trooper” that shoots good in my .41 BH. And try AA#9 That powder works good in all my straight wall revolver rounds.

Don't reload. I don't shoot enuf to justify the cost, and already have a hobby. Ammo I use is Underwood 210gr XTP. Still have a couple hundred rounds left from a buy about 8 years ago, which should do me till I'm dead, or too old to shoot anymore. This rifle is not a range toy for me, just a deer getter.

Just curious, because I'm considering mounting a scope on my Marlin guide gun and thinking of all the options.

Nothin' fancy. Just a $50 Simmons 8-Point. 3-9x40. Top mount. This one: http://www.simmonsoptics.com/riflescopes/8-point.aspx . Henry base and $15 Weaver rings.

I'm still in the "try different ammo" phase, so we'll see. Bought a couple boxes of LeverEvolution yesterday, which I haven't shot yet. I've read mixed reviews on it. It's a 190gr polymer tip bullet for those not familiar with it. 1620 fps from a 10" barrel according to Hornady, so probably around 1750fps in my Henry. About the same as the 210 XTP I used to sight in the scope, so ballistics ought to be similar.
