Seems that the M9 adopted to replace the S&W 15 back in 1985 has finally run it's Course as GI Sidearm for AIrcrewman. All Hail the M18!

So is a 9 mm with a shorter barrel than even the S&W 15 actually a better sidearm?

the 320's are not too bad... they are a pretty big pistol... if these are the ones with the flipy switch on the side then I guess they are okay...
I'm not a fan of these striker fired handguns... even though I do have several.... can't figure out why they did not go with the Sig P226 years ago and stick with it for probably as long as they did the 1911.

The 9 will be ballistically better. The USAF .38, PGU-12/B, from a 6" barrel gave 1125 FPS. But we used 4" barrels & that gave approximately 950 to980 FPS. The Federal NATO give 1260 FPS from a 4" barrel, according to their site. The M18/320 compact, has a 3.9 " barrel but maybe 3.2" of actual barrel when you subtract the breech. But IMO the 9 is much better.

I have an Sig P320 compact... which is really not a compact pistol by most standards these days. It is the second most accurate pistol I own mostly because of the factory red dot sight on it.... I did leave it laying on my desk with a round in the chamber for a couple of months watching it and waiting for it to go off... have put a couple thousand rounds through it. I think I put a Gray guns flat trigger on it sometime back... trigger pull is right at 4lbs and tight and crisp.
